Shichida Australia Early Learning Centres are certified to practice one of the world’s most effective early childhood teaching methods known as the Shichida Method. The Shichida Method has inspired the hearts and minds of children and their families since 1976.
Shichida is a world-renowned teaching method backed by more than 60 years of evolving research into early childhood brain development. The curriculum is age-specific, tailored to children’s attention spans and brain capabilities. At Shichida Australia, we fill in the gaps left by traditional education systems to equip our students with well-rounded skills that they can build on for the rest of their lives. The Shichida Method is unique in that it also teaches skills commonly associated with the right brain such as empathy, creativity, intuition, imaging and photographic memory. With all the research behind us, we invite parents into the classroom to learn how to become their child’s first and best teacher.
The Shichida Method of Education is the original whole brain training program founded by Makoto Shichida in 1958. With its continuous research and proven results, there are currently over 520 centres worldwide.
- A well researched and well-balanced early learning program that stimulates the development of the entire brain, not just the ‘left brain’ as is common in the current education system
- A strong emphasis on developing empathy, resilience, intuition, critical thinking, concentration, creativity and imagination to raise well-rounded children.
- Equips children with advanced and proven memory techniques, teaching them to receive and recall images instantly.
- Fun and age-specific early childhood activities that lay a strong foundation for fine motor skills, literacy skills and numeracy skills and instil a love of learning.
- An understanding of the importance of the parental role in a child’s life and providing the necessary support and coaching for parents to become their child’s first and best teacher.
- Engages the minds of children by engaging their hearts to draw out their unique potential.
Our activities include but are not limited to the following:
• Intuition Games
Children are naturally intuitive. We help them to get to know and trust their instincts so that they may grow to listen to and trust themselves throughout their lives.
• Image Training
Children learn to calm their minds and focus their imaginations to visualise themselves in a variety of situations and imagine walking in different shoes. They use these techniques to improve empathy, visualise their goals clearly and inspire creative thought and writing.
• Working Memory
Children at our early learning centres have impressed many people with their incredible memories. We ingrain proven mnemonic devices and photographic memory skills so that our students will find any future learning and study easy and stress-free.
At Shichida, flashcards are designed to engage the subconscious and expose the children to a large variety of topics, vocabulary and mathematics. When the children start talking, they often express a keen curiosity for and awareness of what they have seen at Shichida.
• Critical Thinking
Our early childhood critical thinking activities help to build up one of the most valuable of life skills. Shichida critical thinking activities include mazes, puzzles, hands on activities, tangrams and open-ended questions to help your child think creatively and independently.
Shichida children gain confidence in literacy by practicing phonics, exploring alphabet letters in many ways, reading and making up stories and using their fantastic memories to build an extensive vocabulary. We empower children with the tools to express themselves in both written and verbal form.
At Shichida, our children learn to love maths and numbers! We have creative ways of introducing numeracy to the children that explore numbers from different angles and in hands-on ways to instil a passionate understanding of maths and numeracy. Children don’t fear maths as a subject when they attend Shichida classes.
By regularly listening, singing and playing instruments, your child learns to appreciate music, gain a sense of rhythm and express themselves. Many of our children have developed perfect pitch through our music activities.
What better way to make the most of your child’s natural learning ability?
Shichida Australia establishes a strong foundation for learning and for life during the Sensitive Period when children are learning at their fastest and easiest. We take into account the Law of Diminishing Ability and further solidify that foundation with a use it or lose it approach.
The skills and experiences acquired through our fun and educational activities will have a profound rippling effect throughout your child’s life!
Shichida Australia offers age-specific, whole brain programs for babies, toddlers, pre-primary and primary aged children at our Melbourne and Sydney centres. The primary school curriculum is offered after school for children between Grade 1 and Grade 3. However, this is only for children who have attended the Shichida preschool program. The program is offered in 3 languages: English, Japanese and Mandarin.
Please Note: The Shichida Method of Education curriculum spans across 6 months to 9 years of age. However, the last entry point into the Shichida program is 4½ years old. The reason for this is that the curriculum for 4½ years old and beyond builds on the foundation that has been established from 6 months old to 4½ years old and it is too difficult for beginners to catch up. Our students’ self-esteem is important to us. This is why it is imperative to start the program as early as possible.
