Our Early Learning Classes in Parramatta
Established in 2018, our Parramatta early learning centre supports children from their baby years through to primary school. Early learning classes have up to six children, grouped within six-month age bands, with activities tailored to each stage of the program.
Baby classes in Parramatta (6 to 12 months)
Enjoy time learning with your baby through songs, flashcards, sensory play and simple memory games. Activities introduce sounds, words and textures, while you gain ideas for supporting your baby’s learning through everyday interactions at home.
Toddler classes in Parramatta (1 to 3 years)
Games, flashcards, songs and hands-on activities give your toddler opportunities to practise listening, remembering, counting and using new words. You participate together as they develop fine motor skills and become familiar with learning in a small group.
Preschool classes in Parramatta (3 to 5 years)
Your preschooler builds early literacy and maths skills through playful challenges involving words, numbers, shapes and patterns. Activities also develop memory, reasoning and confidence in sharing ideas. Children must join before turning five to continue into the later stages.
Kids classes in Parramatta (5 to 9 years)
Learning progresses into speed reading, mental maths, more complex memory tasks and critical thinking across the pre-primary and primary stages. Your child attends independently and builds on foundations developed earlier in the program. These classes are for children who started Shichida before their fifth birthday.

Each 50-minute early learning class includes 20 to 25 activities in a planned sequence. Your child moves between memory games, language and number activities, fine motor tasks and imaginative challenges. The variety keeps lessons engaging, while familiar skills are revisited and built upon over time.
From baby through to preschool, you take part alongside your child. Teachers guide you through the activities, helping you understand their purpose and giving you practical ideas to use at home.
Established by Japanese educator Makoto Shichida in 1958, the Shichida Method combines early learning with an active role for parents. More than 18,000 Australian families have attended Shichida classes since the first centre opened in 2009.
Class Times, Fees and Open Hours
Classes run Monday to Saturday during term time. There’s no fixed timetable published because groups are assembled around the children in them, so the quickest route is to send us your child’s date of birth and the days that work for you.
Centre hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm, Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm. Term breaks, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Terms run ten weeks, four times a year. Every term includes two replacement lessons. Public holidays aren’t charged for, and re-enrolment for the next term is handled in Week 7.

The foundations for learning begin with noticing patterns, understanding numbers and working out how things fit together. Shichida classes develop early maths, spatial reasoning, problem-solving and critical thinking through age-appropriate activities. Children who continue into the Primary School Program also take part in science activities.
Alongside these skills, children practise listening, following instructions, taking turns and sharing ideas. We’re on Level 4 at 1 Wentworth Street, on the corner of Wentworth and Parkes Streets in the Parramatta CBD.
On foot: Six minutes from Parramatta Station and the bus interchange.
By car: Secure parking is available at the station car park at the end of Fire Horse Lane, with rates applying. Allow extra time on Saturdays.

FAQs about Shichida Parramatta
A trial class is $70 per child. For new students, enrolment involves a one-off $100 Life Membership fee and $700 per child for a 10-week term, including GST.
Enrolment is available from six months up to your child’s fifth birthday. Children who start before turning five can continue through the pre-primary and primary stages, up to age nine.
Yes. Families from North Parramatta can attend our Wentworth Street centre, which also welcomes children from Harris Park, Rydalmere and Westmead. Contact the team to find a class for your child’s age group.
Paid parking is available at the station car park at the end of Fire Horse Lane, near the Shichida centre. If you’re travelling by public transport, Parramatta Station and the bus interchange are approximately six minutes away on foot.
