What Do Parents Say?

What is the Shichida Method?

The Shichida Method is a research-tested whole-brain training program for children aged 6 months to 9 years old, leveraging the “Golden Period” of development. It uses fun, fast-paced, multisensory activities to nurture both IQ and EQ, building memory, literacy, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

What to Expect in a Shichida Class

What Happens in a Typical Shichida Lesson

What to Expect in a Shichida Class

You stay with your child throughout the class, observing and joining in as the instructor guides you through educational games that you can also play together at home.

In each 50-minute early learning class, your child experiences 20 to 25 activities, from memory games and number challenges to language, fine motor tasks and imaginative play. The planned sequence balances variety with opportunities to practise familiar skills, introducing new challenges as children progress.

From baby through to kinder, you join your child in the activities and learn ways to support their learning at home.

The program follows the method established by Japanese educator Makoto Shichida in 1958. Since classes began in Australia in 2009, more than 18,000 families have attended.

Getting Ready for School

Getting Ready for School

Being ready for school includes communicating ideas, following instructions and learning alongside others. At Shichida, your child practises these skills while building early reading, number knowledge, memory and fine motor coordination.

For families considering Maribyrnong Primary, St Margaret’s, Footscray North, Footscray City, Avondale or Ascot Vale West, weekly classes offer a familiar setting to build confidence before school begins. Children learn to take turns, participate in group activities and try new challenges with guidance from their teacher.
