Term 4 Lastest Covid update for NSW

5th October  to 18th December 2021

Dear NSW Shichida Parents,

Thank you again for your patience while we navigate these unchartered waters during this unprecedented time.

As per the most recent announcement from the NSW Premier updating the NSW roadmap for the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, we are updating our own Shichida Roadmap to Return accordingly. Please see the highlighted dates which have changed.

From November 1 – Children of fully vaccinated parents of Kinder 5 level and above will return to face-to-face classes. As children of Kinder 5 and above learn independently in class, we encourage a kiss and drop off to minimise the number of adults entering the centre. If you are willing and able to do a kiss and drop off, please sign the indemnity form online (https://pages.shichida.com.au/indemnity) Note: Livestream classes will still be available.

From November 8 – All other children from Baby 1 to Kinder 4 levels will be welcomed back to the centre with the requiring of proof of full vaccination from guardians. Classes will return to regular class sizes. Note: Livestream classes will still be available.

From December 15 Any guardian who has not been fully vaccinated will be allowed back to the centre with their children provided proof of a negative Covid test result within 48 hours of class time for both guardian and child over the age of 5 can be shown. Note: Livestream classes will still be available.

Please note that the following will be conditions of entry for all adults entering the centres:

  • Wearing of mask
  • Temperature check
  • QR code check-in
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

We also encourage the wearing of face shields or face masks by children where possible.

We will also implement the following rules:

  • Only one guardian per child to enter the centre
  • No food is to be consumed within the centre

Please view our conditions of entry on our website here: Conditions of Entry

We ask for your respectful understanding of this in complying with our conditions of entry for the health and safety of all children, guardians and staff who enter our centres.

Our priority remains to deliver high-quality education to your children in a safe environment for all.

Please note that the Livestream delivery mode and webinars will still be available if that is a preferred choice as we don’t want any child to miss out during this valuable window of opportunity of learning.

Thank you for your understanding and commitment.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your centre directly if you have any questions.

Term 3 Lastest Covid update for NSW

28th July 2021

Dear Shichida Sydney Parents,

I trust you are all keeping safe during this time.

We have missed seeing the children at the centres but have enjoyed seeing you all participate in livestream classes as well as our Shichida fun extra activities! Thank you parents for all your hard work and patience in ensuring your children are not missing out on such a valuable time of learning.

As per the latest news, the lockdown has been extended until August 28th. We are here to give you the best support during this difficult time, and we will continue to provide you with the following offerings:

  • Shichida livestream classes on the same day/time (your instructor would have sent you the teams link)
  • Pre-recorded classes
  • Worksheets
  • Shichida Fun Extra Activities
  • Free month of SAH (Shichida At Home) subscription

We encourage you to involve your children in the preparation of the class at home to make it more engaging and to also ensure that their routine and learning are not disrupted. Teachers have been sharing with me the wonderful and creative ways that you have been preparing for materials for each class, we encourage you to share your ideas on our Shichida Families page or on Instagram using the hashtag – #shichidaaustralia.

We would like to share with you some successful ideas that many parents and teachers have shared since last year:

Involve your child in the preparation of the class at home to give them a sense of control and excitement for the class

  • Schedule their Shichida class in a visual timetable for the day at home – whether on the fridge or in their room
  • Ask them to be your special ‘helper’ by assisting you with the printing of the worksheets and pre-cutting of the necessary materials
  • Encourage them to find the fun toys they want to use for critical thinking games, sorting or counting
  • Ask them to find their favourite pencils to use in the class
  • Be patient and supportive; remember that they are still very young and may be experiencing some things for the first time
  • Be present with them during the class, the Shichida program is about engaging the heart so that you can engage the mind; and that is not possible without your support

Thank you once again for your dedication to your child’s education during this unprecedented time. Please reach out to us via phone or email with any questions you may have.

Shichida Victoria Timeline – Term 4

November 2021

We hope that you and your children are all keeping well. We would like to thank you for your patience and adaptability as we transitioned to working from home on rostered hours. We appreciate your understanding that this temporary change in schedule and teachers was in the best interest of everyone’s health and safety within our Shichida community.

Firstly, I would like to emphasise that just like you, we are navigating through unchartered waters with how the roadmap will evolve. As Victoria gets closer to reaching its milestones, we have considered all that is required on our end to ensure a covid-safe return to the centre. Our top priorities while planning our return were the children’s safety as well as our duty of care to align with what the Victorian Government mandates. As such, please rest assured that by the time the children return to the centre, all our staff would have met the vaccination requirements and we have also taken the further initiative of installing air purifiers in each of our classrooms. I have attached the timeline that we communicated with you on the 23rd of September and below, you will find more information about our return to the centre.

From Wednesday 3rd November 2021

  • We are reverting to our original centre timetables. Ensure to check your email the week prior for your assigned teacher’s Livestream link which will remain the same for the remainder of the term. If you have not received your link by Saturday 30th, contact us immediately to avoid any last-minute stress before your class commencing.
  • If you prefer to continue Livestream classes until the end of the year, let us know so that we can reflect it on our system accordingly.

Face-face classes from Friday 5th November 2021

  • Children with fully vaccinated parents will be the only ones who can return to physical classes until further updates from the Victorian Government.
  • Livestream classes and webinars will still be available at your scheduled day/time to ensure the continuity of our curriculum
  • Kinder 5 and above: Children in these age groups can learn independently in class, and even though we are allowing fully vaccinated parents back, we will follow a kiss and drop off to minimise the number of adults entering the centre
  • The following will be the conditions of entry for all adults coming to our premises (at the door or in the centre):
    • Proof of vaccination via the Victoria Services app
    • QR code check-in via the Victoria Services app (please download the app and add us as your favourite location for smooth entry)
    • Wearing a fitted mask at all times
    • Temperature check
    • Hand sanitisation
  • We will also implement the following rules:
    • Only 1 fully vaccinated guardian per child to enter the centre
    • No food consumption within the centre
    • Any parents or children with symptoms or deemed to be unwell will be refused entry to the centre by Shichida staff to prevent putting other’s health at risk.
  • One face shield per child will be available upon our return to the centre

Our priority remains to deliver high-quality education to your children in a safe environment for all and we ask for your respectful understanding of this in complying with our conditions of entry for the health and safety of all children, guardians and staff who enter our centres.

Please note that the Livestream delivery mode will still be available if that is a preferred choice as we do not want any child to miss out during this valuable window of opportunity of learning.

Despite the lockdowns ending, your access to the following bonus activities will remain until the end of Term 4, 2021:

  • Webinar of your child’s age-specific lesson with downloadable worksheets and learning resources. (Weekly webinar released each Saturday and available for 3 weeks after the initial release date).
  • Fun extra activities: 15-minutes Livestream activity session for everyone to engage in. Facilitated by our instructors across all centres to bring some fun and joy to the children’s day. (Weekly schedule and link available through your membership portal).

We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to our centre in a COVID-safe manner as we transition to the new normal. Thank you for your understanding and commitment.

Past Updates

23rd September 2021

Dear Parents,

We hope that the children are enjoying their school holidays. We would like to thank you for all your efforts during Term 3. We have received such wonderful feedback from parents and have enjoyed hearing about the creative ways you are engaging your children at home; from choosing fun toys to re-creating our worksheets by hand! Teachers and parents liaising so closely has a tremendous positive impact on fostering and nurturing the children’s love of learning.

With the latest announcement of the roadmap, we have planned what Term 4 will look like and have summarised this in a visual timeline for you below. Should there be any changes with the roadmap, we will adjust our timeline accordingly. As you can see, with the first few weeks before we can welcome you back face-to-face, we will ensure the continuity of the curriculum through the livestream classes. Our roadmap to normality will be in adherence with what the Victorian Government mandates and we will fulfill our duty of care by aligning with their vaccination requirements.

As you have seen during Term 3, our teachers have been dedicated to delivering high quality classes to the children at the centres. However, with the current situation and until we reach the milestones of the roadmap, we want to do our part. To minimise travels and keep our team safe, we have made a plan which allows teachers to continue livestreaming classes from their homes if need be. As you can imagine, it is no small task given the amount of materials you can see the teachers prepare for every single class. Our Shichida teachers deliver classes of all levels from 6 months to 9 years and teach upwards of 10 levels a week.

With the work from home plan, we will need to adjust the levels that the teachers are delivering accordingly. Hence, your child may be allocated a different teacher in Term 4 until we are back in the centre face-to-face. Please know that we will still be delivering the highest of quality livestream classes to your child. All our teachers are experienced at teaching all levels, so rest assured we will not be compromising on your child’s education in the possible teacher change.  As it is the start of a new term, next week you will be emailed your classroom link to use for your class. Please join your scheduled class at the same time via this link. The teachers will start reaching out to you soon to introduce themselves.

Thank you for your patience and kind cooperation.

What makes Shichida different from the rest?

Shichida is a world-renowned teaching method backed by more than 60 years of evolving research into early childhood brain development.

The curriculum is age-specific, tailored to children’s attention spans and brain capabilities. At Shichida Australia, we fill in the gaps left by traditional education systems to equip our students with well-rounded skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.

The Shichida Method is unique in that it also teaches skills most often associated with the right brain such as empathy, creativity, intuition, imaging and photographic memory. With all the research behind us, we invite parents into the classroom to learn how to become their child’s first and best teacher.

Parents share their Shichida early learning centre experience.

“The Shichida method is amazing for the developing child's brain. In the initial years, they 'learn how to learn', and as the years go by we could see how these amazing fast processing and memory skills helped our children thrive in their learning journey. They prove to themselves that they can learn anything, and keep applying these skills to just about anything they encounter in life. Our 3 children having started as babies, have always loved their Shichida classes as it is done in a way that is always fun. We live as a multi- generational family where Grammy spent the most time with them as babies and toddlers. The best thing we did was to include her in attending classes with our eldest son, so we could get ideas of how to make every day filled with learning opportunities. Both parents and grandparents understood the methods, were supportive of the things they were taught weekly and follow through the learning at home. We have recommended the Shichida method to family members and they are also observing similar things in their little ones too.”

– Brenda, Solomon (9 years old), Rafael (7 years old) & Johanna (1.5 years old)

“Illy was born with Down Syndrome. Like any parent, we wanted to give her the best chance in life and started exploring therapies for her. When Illy was 6 months, we enrolled her into the program and she was there for the next 4 years.
The program has had a significant impact on Illy, especially in the areas of memory boosting and the ability to focus on activities for long periods of time. She never experienced any problems transitioning from childcare to Kinder and then to school. She also scored close to normal IQ levels in her assessment. Her therapists are always in awe of what she is capable of doing.
Illy is now in Grade 1 and progressing well with her reading and socialising. I highly recommend Shichida to parents of special needs children. They will benefit from the nurturing environment and fun and stimulating activities. Start them early to fully benefit from the program. We are forever grateful to Shichida for all they have done for Illy and our family.”

– Angeline & Illy (5 years old)

"This program isn’t like your standard music class or kinder gymnastics. It’s a whole-brain training program that uses puzzles, games, flashcards and songs to develop young children’s memory and problem-solving skills to give them the best start in life. The main thing for us is that my kids think it’s really fun. They love learning and what I love about the program is that they don’t see it as a chore. They get a real sense of achievement from all of this. Some people ask me if I’m trying to raise geniuses – I’m not. I just want to give my kids the best chance to succeed in life. I wasn’t exposed to these sorts of activities when I was young. I was always a really keen learner, but never knew anything like this. I wondered if I had been exposed to these activities, would I be doing something different now?"

– Michelle, Alric (8 years old), Jensen (5 years old) and Elise (3 years old)

“Matilda has always been hungry for information, she's a little firecracker, and Shichida just seems the perfect fit for us. She loves the mazes, and puzzles, and I've found that even without us trying to incorporate the learnings at home, she is bringing them home with her on her own. For example we have a giant tub of bug toys, and sometimes I'll see her playing with them and she has them grouped into their colours. Then the next time it will be by their size, or their type … the grouping and ordering of things just seems to come naturally to her now. I just feel like it's a really great start for kids, I want to fill her brain while it's in this sponge-stage, I don't want to miss this window.”

Testimonials from past students of Shichida Australia.

"First of all, let me just say a big thank you to all the people who came here to the graduation ceremony today, especially Shiaoling and Vincent, who had the courage and commitment to start Shichida Australia because they wanted to help kids grow and become good people with kind hearts. My Shichida journey began with Sonia as my teacher. She holds a special place in my heart, and I want to thank her for teaching me a lot of things that helps me get by in life. I am grateful to her for that. The final two years of my Shichida journey ends with Simon. He has been a funny teacher and always makes me laugh. I thank him for having patience and giving me happy Shichida memories. I like his science experiments and funny stories. My favourite Shichida activity is doing Peg words, which helped me to develop my memory. Peg words are fun and enjoyable, and you can learn at the same time! I think they are linked to flashcards and Pi digits, which I also have loved learning along the way. These make up my favourite Shichida memories with my awesome teachers. So, thank you to everybody who made all of this 9-year Shichida journey possible for me. I hope I can honour you and Makoto Shichida’s memory by continuing to grow with a kind heart. I will miss you all very much, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

– Rémi, 10 years old, Year 5

"Shichida has given me a strong foundation for school, and I find that it's benefited me in more ways than I can count. It helped me learn to notice patterns and connections, so now I find that I can pick up new concepts quicker than most of my peers. Another thing Shichida has helped me with is to discover my love for writing. It's been very useful for essays in school, but moreover writing helps me express myself. Shichida's peg words have helped me with my memory, something that will definitely come in handy as I work through my VCE subjects in the coming years. Most of all, the attitudes of the Shichida teachers and the enthusiasm with which they approached their classes nurtured my love of learning, and I can't thank them enough for how much it has helped me throughout my life.”

– Jacqueline, 13 years old, Year 9 student, Haileybury

"I attended Shichida in 2009, and I now find myself reaching VCE. My two siblings had also attended Shichida after me, and we can all testify that Shichida had helped us to reach the point that we are at now. Shichida brings a new style of thinking and encourages a love of learning. It provided me with a solid foundation for primary school and allowed me to easily grasp new concepts and ideas. Even 12 years later, I still remember going to Shichida being the highlight of my week. I had recently returned to do work experience with Shichida, and although some things may have changed over the years, and I can say that the passion and drive in the teachers, as well as the fun songs and activities, have retained the same energy that just makes every child want to learn."

– Natalie, 16 years old, Year 10 student at MacRobertson Girls’ High School

"I’ve managed to memorise the first 60 accurately. It helps with memorising numbers that can save you a lot of time, such as page numbers in a book or a new passcode you set. It also helps with mental maths when multiplying three-digit numbers."

– J, 15 years old, a student at Kilvington Grammar
