Term 3 Covid update for NSW

12th July 2021

Dear Shichida Sydney Parents,

I hope that you are all doing well. I would like to thank you all for your kind feedback, adaptability and patience as we navigate this current situation of lockdown.

Last week I sent out an email outlining our decision to delay the start of Term 3 under restricted conditions. Due to the current situation, in the best interest of the welfare of students, parents and staff, we will not be resuming face to face classes next week but offering livestream only for the first 2 weeks of the term.

While our main goal is to minimise disruption to the children’s learning and routine; we also want to reassure you that we know that livestreaming works. Based on all the children who continued the classes through last year with the toughest of lockdowns, as well as your own feedback on the setbacks and challenges of having taken a break from Shichida, we know that providing children with a fun learning structure, at home, in their safe space with their loving parent, is the best that we can provide them with right now.

If you are new to the program or if you have not given the classes a go yet in this livestream format, we encourage you to. The teachers are well-versed in helping you navigate this new challenge.

Teachers will be reaching out to you prior to the start of classes next week with the Microsoft Teams Link to join the livestream class as well as touching base to see how they can best partner with you.

Please rest assured that we want to welcome the children back to the centre as soon as possible and hope that we can play our part in helping stop the spread so this can happen sooner rather than later!

Thank you once again for your dedication to your child’s education during this unprecedented time. Please reach out to us via phone or email with any questions you may have.

Term 3 Covid update for NSW

7th July 2021

Dear Shichida Parents,

I trust you are all having a safe holiday period at this time. It has certainly been an interesting few weeks for Sydney! Please rest assured that the health and safety of our students, parents and staff members remains our first priority.

In light of the recent Covid outbreak we have taken the decision to delay the start of Term 3 by one week. Term 3 at Shichida will now start on Monday July 19th (instead of Monday July 12th. Victorian centres will resume on July 12th).

NSW Term 3 2021 Amended Dates

Monday 19th July to Saturday 25th September 2021

We will also be providing webinar access for all Baby to Pre-Primary levels with a bonus webinar for next week to do at home!

We foresee that the  COVID restrictions of social distancing may remain in place a little longer. This will limit the number of parent/guardians allowed in each classroom. This will result in reduced class sizes for some age levels temporarily. Please note that if your child’s class is affected, a member of staff will be in touch with you to make arrangements.

Please note that the wearing of masks will be a condition of entry, we ask that you be respectful of this for the health and safety of our students, guardians and teachers.

We also ask that if your child or yourself is displaying any symptoms that you stay at home and take advantage of our reschedules, live stream offering and webinars. If you come to our centres showing any symptoms, please understand that we may ask you to reschedule your class.

As you can understand, COVID-19 has changed the game and we ask that everyone is extra-cautious and diligent for the consideration of all other customers at our Shichida centres and our staff. If in doubt, please stay home!

Thank you for your dedication to your child’s education during this unprecedented time. Please reach out to us via phone or email with any questions you may have.

Shichida’s response to the lockdown extension

20th July 2021

Thank you to all the parents and children who have been joining us via livestream over the past few days. With the extension of the lockdown, we will be continuing with our livestream delivery for the duration of the lockdown, from Wednesday 21st to Tuesday 27th July (inclusive). We will resume to on-site classes as per normal on Wednesday 28th July 2021.

For Friday – Tuesday classes; please refer to the e-mail you received on Thursday 15th July with your respective teacher’s classroom link.

For Wednesday – Thursday classes; your respective teachers/administrator will be sending you your livestream class link this afternoon.

You may access the worksheets and extra materials list in preparation for your livestream class via your membership portal. If you have not previously logged in, please look out for an e-mail subject “Complete your registration for Virtual class membership” and set your password. For your reference for the worksheets needed this and next week:

Wednesday 21st July – Saturday 24th July  – WEEK 2

Monday 26th July – Tuesday 27th July – WEEK 3

We encourage you to involve your children in the preparation of the class at home to make it more engaging and to also ensure that their routine and learning are not disrupted.

Children may find it fun to complain with their parents but love impressing their teachers, and we would like to share with you some successful ideas that many parents and teachers have shared since last year:

  • Involve your child in the preparation of the class at home to give them a sense of control and excitement for the class
  • Schedule their Shichida class in a visual timetable for the day at home – whether on the fridge or in their room
  • Ask them to be your special ‘helper’ by assisting you with the printing of the worksheets and pre-cutting of the necessary materials
  • Encourage them to find the fun toys they want to use for critical thinking games, sorting or counting
  • Ask them to find their favourite pencils to use in the class
  • Encourage them to choose something for ‘show and tell’ after class; so they have something to look forward to showing to their classmates and teacher at the end of class
  • Be patient and supportive; remember that they are still very young and may be experiencing some things for the first time
  • Be present with them during the class, the Shichida program is about engaging the heart so that you can engage the mind; and that is not possible without your support

We understand that some may be hesitant about virtual learning, however we strongly encourage you to give it a go before deciding to delay till face-face classes, as consistency and routine is integral to the development and learning journey of each student.

Thank you again for your continued patience and cooperation. We are here for you, so please do not hesitate to give us a call or email if you have any further concerns or questions.  The team and myself are so looking forward to seeing the children and yourselves in class from next Wednesday 28th July 2021

What makes Shichida different from the rest?

Shichida is a world-renowned teaching method backed by more than 60 years of evolving research into early childhood brain development.

The curriculum is age-specific, tailored to children’s attention spans and brain capabilities. At Shichida Australia, we fill in the gaps left by traditional education systems to equip our students with well-rounded skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.

The Shichida Method is unique in that it also teaches skills most often associated with the right brain such as empathy, creativity, intuition, imaging and photographic memory. With all the research behind us, we invite parents into the classroom to learn how to become their child’s first and best teacher.

Parents share their Shichida experience…

“My son joined Shichida when he was 5 years old. My husband and I are both very happy with his progress. Now my son is a happy, positive and confident child who loves and enjoys learning. After attending Shichida classes, we realised that the program not only benefits the child, but also teaches parents how to raise a child happily and successfully.”

– Miranda & Daniel (son, Shichida Graduate 2016)

“Thank you for the wonderful experiences that you have given Luke over the last 7 years at Shichida. The skills he has learnt through Shichida will last through his entire life. You have really helped and encouraged Luke to achieve such great things… Shichida has been such a huge part of our lives, we will really miss it.”

– Mark, Emily & Luke (son)

“I’ve noticed my daughter does remember things quite well, she can listen to songs only a few times and she remembers the tunes and the lyrics. She is one of the few kids in her class who can read at her age. Callum can count to 10. He sings the alphabet and he knows his colours and his shapes. He will sing along, it’s just play for him. There’s not that many programs out there for young kids, and you know why not? It doesn’t hurt them and they enjoy it. It does help them to develop to the best of their potential and their ability. They do an amazing amount of stuff in that one hour that I could not do at home with them.”

– Jane, Caitlyn (daughter) & Callum (son)

“Chloe has been attending Shichida Australia since she was 18 months old. I first heard about it on TV and thought it looked like an interesting program – mainly because it worked on skills like visualisation techniques, fine motor skills, confidence building and fun aspects of learning that didn’t seem to be offered in any other activities… This has really stimulated her learning, improved her concentration and helped her prepare for the transition to school. Shichida also gave us the tools to be able to incorporate opportunities for learning into everyday life – this has been incredibly helpful. The first time we realised that Chloe knew her numbers and letters was when my husband was out washing the car. He could hear her mumbling away and went to check up on her. She was just two at the time, and was reading our car’s licence plate!”

– Emily & Chloe (daughter)
