Shichida is very age-specific and the reason being that it is based on research on childhood brain development. In any class, the children are aged within 3 months of each other. Even if your child and your friend’s child are the same age, they may be born more than 3 months of each other and therefore be placed at different levels. Children who were born prematurely may also be placed at a different age level to another child of the same age.

If a child is joining Shichida towards the cut-off age of 4½ years old , they may be placed in a level or two lower than their actual age. This is because from 4 years old the program builds upon a foundation that has been established from 6 months old and it can be difficult for new students to catch up. We want to give our new students the best chance to become familiar and confident with Shichida.
